The David McNicoll Lecture

On August 28 in the Science Lecture Theatre the 3rd annual David McNicoll Lecture was held. This year the guest speaker was Mr Rex Hunt who captivated the Year 11 students with his stirring address on the theme of 'Dare to be Different/Don't be afraid to have a go'. Mr Hunt followed the fine tradition established by the previous two speakers Mr Eddie McGuire and Mr Peter Mitchell.

The lecture is named after Mr David McNicoll, an old boy who made a name for himself writing for The Bulletin for more than 40 years. The theme of the lecture is the importance of communication skills in contemporary society. Each of the three speakers in their own individual style have contributed to the above theme.

The identity of the speaker has always been a well kept secret until the moment of the lecture. We look forward to having another significant Australian in 2004.
