Old Scotch Cricket Club

1
Old Scotch Cricket Club has begun the new cricket season for 2003/2004 with little success, with weather and ground availability having a major impact on both sides. Due to Melbourne's weather, the Old Scotch Blues haven't played as yet (after Round 3), firstly due to water restrictions limiting ground use and more recently due to Melbourne's heavy rain in October. The Old Scotch Reds have played two games without success against Haileybury and Old Melburnians. A lack of training and commitment to each batsman's wicket saw us fall short of both totals set by the opposition. Good performances though have been seen from Gagan Bashki, Al 'Milkshakes” Jones and Andrew Ladbury.

A reminder that training is held throughout the season on the Rugby oval from 5:30 pm onwards every Thursday. The club is always keen for new players and welcomes anybody in the Scotch community to attend training on Thursdays. As stated in the last article, this year the Reds-Blues match will be played on the 20th December on the Main Oval at the school and we encourage all former players to attend to view this always exciting game.

Old Scotch will host Sydney Scots at Easter 2004, and look forward to again putting on a great event. Anyone interested in attending functions or playing cricket can contact below captains or the OSCA office.

Other Club news includes the recent arrival of baby boy Landon Hare to former player Andrew 'Boris” Hare (now residing in USA), and expected births for wives of Gary Bennett and Rob Parton. We wish the new Dads all the best and hope some new cricketers are on their way.
