Bowlers Prepare to Defend Title

Bowlers to defend title
The Old Scotch Bowls Club has commenced its 2003-2004 Season in earnest whilst preparing for the defending of its Championship won at last season's P.S.O.B. Bowls Tournament.

We started the season with a tight game against Kew Heights eventually going down by 5 shots but then had a tremendous win over Balwyn winning by 26 shots. Unfortunately, Caulfield Grammarians had to cancel our scheduled game but we had a good practice amongst ourselves to prepare for the Old Melburnians which was to no avail as the Old Melburnians beat us by 15 shots in a hard fought contest.

Belated congratulations are due to the winner of the Oxley Jones Trophy for last season, namely, Alex Stewart ('49) with 44 points, who was followed by Miller Goodwin ('47) and Colin Simpson ('48) with 32 points each.

Pictured is the winning Old Scotch Rink from last season's Championship. Left to right, Geoff Silverwood ('34), Brian Ely ('48), Manson Russel ('48) and Keith Weymouth ('48).

To bowlers in general, if you would like to join the happy social atmosphere of Old Scotch Bowls, please contact our Secretary, Ray Cox (Tel. 9809 1286) or President, Manson Russel (Tel. 9809 1054) for further details.
