State Debating Champions

2004 has been a particularly successful year for Scotch debaters, with five teams going through the season undefeated and so representing our region in the state finals. However, by Grand Final night there was only one Scotch team left standing. The Year 10 (C Grade) team of Jonathan Chia, Tom Sutherland, Oliver Waters and Ben Wong defeated the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School team as they took the negative side in the debate, ‘That we should welcome US bases on Australian soil’.

It has been many years since Scotch debaters have achieved success at a state level. Congratulations to the C Grade champions and best wishes to the other boys in the squad who performed so well this year. May your debating skills continue to be fine-tuned as you debate some of the important issues of our times.
