10 Year Anniversary Dinner at Grossi Florentino

What a night! For those fortunate enough to be in attendance, a gastronomic delight was had, as always. Mr Guy Grossi and his team turned on a feast.

In what may easily argued as one of Melbourne's grandest dining rooms, we celebrated our 10th Birthday by christening ‘The Wine & Food Club Song’, sung to the melody of ‘The College Song’. I think it would be fair to say all enjoyed wine, food, song, music and of course the Scotch company.

Wine and food

We are Scotch connections all
Who gather at Boykett’s Hall
As keen members and guests like to do
For we dearly love the vine
And will share our precious time
With the Club that bears the cardinal, gold and blue

Well-hung beef we'll shout in chorus
As our bellies begin to grow
There’s no other cut we swear
That can with The Scotch compare
We have cooked the whole world over
and we know

At our tastings we test palate
Bread cheese wine is the carrot
As we savour choice releases from the cask
And you’ll see no staggering crew
Wearing cardinal, gold and blue
For we hold our grog as dear old mother asked

Smooth long finish we are chasing
See them swirling as we score
Divine sound of cork removed
Old hat now it’s Stelvin screwed
There’s no sweeter music than the gurgly pour

We’ve got graziers with fine beasts
Restaurateurs for grand feasts
Men who make a name as wizards
with grape juice
There is plenty more to come
For our club has just begun
Why ten years is but the signal to cut loose

Great start Scotch the club is singing
Hear them cheering as we grow
There is so much we can do
Wearing cardinal, gold and blue
Fizz makes grinners, pop a cork and let it flow

There are men in such a state
Under the influence, over weight
Who are always first to order the aged eye
Before too fat to leave the bed
Order serve of salad instead
Too much claret drunk we ought
not ever deny

Well done meat we are ignoring
Medium rare lets juices flow
Now we know to let it rest
Fine knife to carve it best
Pour wine, relax and enjoy the inner glow
