Six years of research pay off for Doctor Watkinson

After six painstaking years of research into the roles and functions of the Heads of English Departments in Independent Schools in Victoria, during September Scotch's Director of Development, Alan Watkinson was awarded the degree of Education from the University of Melbourne.

Alan's doctorate comes after six years of research into the repositioning of these Heasdes of English, including tracing the careers of six well established practioners and the ways in which curriculum and social changes have impacted on them as professionals, and their departments.

Now, with the research and writing out of the way - and not immediately taking up the suggestion of publishing his thesis - Dr Watkinson is looking forwarded to devoting more time to developing his golf swing than to practising his typing skills.

We congratulate Alan on his success and his contribution to the body of knowledge of education in Victoria.
