New Senior Coach for 2006

The Old Scotch Football Club has appointed Scotch College’s Director of Sport and former Collingwood star Barry Price as its Senior Coach for the 2006 season. Club President, Tim Shearer said ‘Barry was an outstanding candidate in an excellent field of applicants and we are delighted to have a man of Barry’s calibre leading our club into the future.’ Barry will replace Dale Tapping who has coached the club for the past four seasons.

Barry brings an immense amount of experience in all matters connected with football to Old Scotch Football Club. ‘Barry’s credentials are outstanding. He played 158 games for Collingwood and kicked 60 goals. He won the Copeland Trophy for best and fairest at Collingwood in 1969, represented Victoria in 1970, and was Vice-Captain of Collingwood in 1972,’ Tim said.

The Old Scotch Football Club looks forward to benefiting greatly from Barry’s immense football knowledge and coaching skills. Barry will be assisted by former St Kevin’s Old Boys player Robert Gross, David Leilnors and Mick Smith. David and Mick have out-standing playing records in country Victoria. Together they will introduce a structure that will support the unique nature of Old Scotch and its six football teams.

Serge D’Angelo and Ray Beattie will again look after the Reserves, while Andrew Millar has been reappointed as coach of the 3rd XVIII. Ray Leetham will coach the Under 19 (1) team in 2006 while a coach for the second Under 19 team is yet to be appointed. Sandy Robertson will again head up the Cardinals team. Bruce Amstrong is the new Director of Football and will also be Chairman of the Match Committee in 2006.
