Once again Scotch is involving itself in curriculum activities with River Oaks School, via the Internet.
This year the activities are in preparation for a major curriculum project, to be run between Scotch College MLC, Kew and River Oaks and Pilgrim Wood Public School in Ontario, Canada in 1998. Next March a number of Year 8 students from the two Canadian schools will be visiting Scotch and MLC for two weeks.
While in Australia, the Canadian students will be billeted with Scotch and MLC families. In a reciprocal arrangement, Year 8 students from Scotch and MLC will spend two weeks at the Canadian schools in May, with the Australian students staying with Canadian families.
Students in the upper part of the Junior School have made contact with students from the Canadian schools with the view to exploring the co-creation of both a book of literature, sharing the editing and design of graphics, and of a multimedia project, focussing on the links that are shared by Canada and Australia.
While in the Senior School, students from 7A and 7H have developed and published a series of web pages to assist the Canadian students with their research of our country. Further curriculum activities have been planned to coincide with next year's student exchange.
