Anzac Day Parade

ANZAC Day Parade

The Military Band was involved again in the annual Anzac Day Parade, marching and playing along Swanston Street to the Shrine.

Despite downpours of rain on the surrounding days, the weather on Anzac Day was fantastic. The instruments shone in the sun and there was a refreshing breeze.

The large forty-man band including, for the first time, a bassoon, played 'Liberty Bell' confidently from memory with impressive drill and dress. Crowds including Scotch Old Boys and parents lined the streets and many more watched the parade on television.

The next day the band was off to Wombat State Forest to take part in the Cadet Unit Bivouac. All part of the varied and full schedule of the Military Band!

Ghostbuster Slime!!

Chemistry students in Year 11 have been busy studying polymers .
One of the practical exercises involved making Ghostbuster slime.

The students had great fun in preparing and finding out about the properties of slime as the pictures show.

Basketball Tour to Tasmania

A squad of ten prospective First Team players visited Launceston Grammar School in the closing stages of the Easter holidays.

The first group to undertake a pre-season tour of this kind in many years, we embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and were determined to do our level best in the scheduled fixtures.

We met our hosts in the first game and after a hard-fought opening that provided all players with valuable experience, Scotch ran out confortable winners: 89 points to 57.

Game two, however, against St Patrick's College, saw a much closer contest. Scotch held a lead for most of the game but was overrun in the dying seconds to fall short by two points: 60 to 58.

All things considered, this was a successful tour in many ways. We returned from the Apple Isle with a genuine belief in our ability to produce excellent play, and all involved have gained a tremendous amount from the experience.

Coach
