Did you know that Old Scotch Collegians' Athletic Club provides a way to get or stay fit over the winter months and have fun at the same time?
The APS Old Collegians' cross country events are both enjoyable and highly sociable. There are fourteen APSOC events, ranging in distance from three kilometres to the half marathon. Athletes run through schools, farmyards and national parks, and along beaches, river paths and the famous Tan track. There are scratch races, relays and handicaps, and in the latter type of event, the 'hounds' (fast runners) chase the 'hares' (not so fast runners). Following each run, a lavish afternoon tea is served.
Old Scotch competes for the coveted Division 1 APSOC team premiership, but everyone strives for the rarest of victories: first over the line on handicap. The keenest of runners also test themselves in Athletics Victoria championship events during the winter. Membership of the club is open to all. You do not have to be a past or present student of the school, which is just as well when we are trying to field women's teams! Contact Mark Purvis on 9534 5105 or Andrew Simm on 9818 0900 for more information, or visit the Old Scotch and APSOC websites at
