Top honours for Rugby boys

Scotch College has made a great start to the rugby season with significant wins in all age groups. The First XV were successful in the pre-season VSRU Tens Tournament in Geelong. We are currently leading the competition in the Under 16 age group and at both the First XV and Second XV level. We have also had a number of players chosen to represent their State at representative level.

Scotch College hosted a skills clinic with George Gregan, Andrew Blades and Pat Howard in April. This was a great success with enthusiastic participation by the boys and strong parental support. These type of events have been important in setting the scene for Rugby at Scotch.

Thomas McColl, the current 1st XV Captain, has been chosen as a representative in the Victorian U/18 State Team and as a member of the Australian Schools Development Squad. Andrew Hocking has been chosen as a member of the Under 18 State Training Squad. Robert Buchanan, Chris Simmons, Alex Campbell, and Will Morton have all been chosen to play for the Under 16 Victorian Team in the Griff Hunt Trophy Game.

We have also had a number of players chosen for the State Talent Development Squad. These include Chris Simmons, Robert Buchanan, Will Morton and Thomas Brown.

The boys should be congratulated for these are outstanding achievements. Rugby is alive and well at Scotch College and it is hoped that we can maintain this positive momentum as we head into the second half of the season.
