Our Annual Dinner was held this year on 6 April, in the Tasman Room at the Merimbula Bowling Club. Thirty-four Old Boys and their wives attended, and we were honoured to have with us two OSCA Presidents, Michael Stillwell (who flew his own plane up from Melbourne), and Rob Logie-Smith and his lovely wife Sue.
In addition, Alan Watkinson represented the School, (standing in for Leigh McGregor). Alan contributed to the night with an amusing and informative short talk on various school activities.
Other notable attendees were Con Cowper, Bob's 87-year-old mother, who came with Bob and his wife Dale. Don and Sue Howell, parents of Nick, Don also having coached the O.S. Football Club and Sue's recently deceased father also having been an Old Boy. Keith and Margaret Tandy, representing Keith's alma mater Scots College, Sydney, together with some first timers in Don Hopkins, former long jump champion who recently purchased a home at Pambula Beach, Robert and Yvonne Wilson who have a lovely home overlooking the ocean at Tura Beach and who would have been with us last year but for an unfortunately timed illness. Andrew and Jill Newton who come regularly to a flat they own in Merimbula; fortunately one of this years trips coincided with the Dinner and they were able to attend.
On a sad note, we also bade farewell to George and Jean Stroud, who are returning to live in a retirement complex in Melbourne, due to George's health. George has been a tower of strength in organising our dinners since their interception in 1997 and will be badly missed.
A number of apologies were received from those who, for one reason or another, were unable to attend. Six or seven of these hope to be with us next year, as does Leigh McGregor, who by then will be retired, but has stated that he would like to join us again.
