Scotch Scouts hiking along

On Thursday May 1st the Scout Troop set off to Mornington Peninsula, camping in hike tents overnight at the Bayside Scout Camp at Mount Martha.

During the evening after some mapping exercises the boys sat around a campfire. On the Friday morning they were dropped off on top of Arthur's Seat to hike along horse riding tracks through the Main ridge area to Point Nepean National Park. They hiked in patrols accompanied by a Venturer and the Scout Leaders.

On the Friday evening they pitched camp at Cape Schanck Lighthouse, and were able to tour through the historic tower before settling in for the evening.

On the Saturday morning the Troop hiked to Bush Rangers Bay along the rugged Bass Strait cliff tops and held an investiture ceremony there. In the afternoon they walked out to Boneo Road to meet the bus and return to Scotch. It was an enjoyable introduction to hiking for the new boys walking through fantastic coastal scenery.
