Vale Philippa
sadly missed by the Scotch Family

The School Council at its meeting on 2 April noted, with much sadness, the death of Mrs Philippa Barber on 28 February 1997.

Mrs Barber had been involved with Scotch for 23 years since her sons James ('84) and Michael ('89) commenced at Scotch. She became a member of the Junior School Mothers' Association Committee in 1978 and gave three years of excellent service to that committee. From 1983 she served two years as Vice Chairman of the Scotch Family Association and became Chairman in 1985.

In October 1986, Mrs Barber joined the School Council and in her 10 1/2 years of service she was an outstanding contributor to the progress and development of Scotch. Amongst her various responsibilities were membership of the Development and Planning Committee and the Remuneration Committee. Mrs Barber also served on the Strategic and Planning Committee, including being Chairman for two years, and she also served on the Budget Committee from 1990-1996.

This Council wishes to place on record its appreciation of the contribution and wise counsel of Mrs Barber over so many years. She had a perspective and experience which was invaluable to the Council in its deliberations, and each Council member also enjoyed her friendship and trust.

We will miss her greatly.
