Following the recent study trip to the USA and New Zealand by Executive Director of the Foundation, Alan Watkinson, the Board held an important workshop on 27 July.
There were key presentations from the Principal and the Bursar about issues confronting the School and the Foundation, and a great deal of discussion amongst the Board Members.
Alan Watkinson gave an extensive presentation on his findings from visiting five American and five New Zealand schools with interesting and diverse development programs.
He indicated a number of strategies which might be developed within the Foundation to enhance the current programs and instigate new ones. These will be needed to meet the challenges laid down by the Principal and continue the hugely important support that the Foundation provides to the School.
There was lively yet considered debate by the Board, chaired by President Campbell McComas. With its new personnel and directions, the Foundation is entering an exciting new phase of its existence. While there is a long way to go to capture the success of some of the amazing development offices encountered in the USA, Scotch is well placed to take a big step forward and tread upon a truly international stage in the area of development work.
