Chamber music as Scotch has developed significantly during the last few years, particularly as a result of the superb standards reached by the Scotch College 'Amati' Trio of Allen Wang (violin), Ye Lian He (Cello) and Frank Yang (Piano), as well as other chamber ensembles, notably featured on the CD of chamber music From Hong Kong to Harare produced by Move records in 2001.
There are now several quality chamber ensembles in the school under the direction of a number of the staff, and the work of these ensembles was presented in a setting conducive to enjoying chamber music in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The five course dinner was interspersed by performances from all the more advanced chamber ensembles, all of whom played to remarkable levels.
Works performed included the:
Brahms Piano Quartet in G Minor, by the Scotch College Year 8 Piano Quartet, Henry Hedinger (piano), Thomas Gin (violin), Julian Hua (viola), Davis Yu (cello);
Brahms Sextet No. 1, 1st Movement by the Scotch College Sextet, Wilson Zhang (violin), Alexander Hua (violin), Julian Hua (viola), Matthew Ng (viola), Benjamin Phillips (cello) and Alexander Gin (cello);
