Nominations called for third student Perelberg award

Members of the Scotch Family have the opportunity this year to nominate a Year 12 boy or a member of the Class of '96 to win the prestigious Perelberg Award.

To commemorate the life of Ashley Perelberg ('92) who tragically died at the age of 18, the Perelberg family have endowed an award to be presented annually to a member of the Scotch community, who demonstrates the true Scotch spirit, and who by his deeds, brings honour to the school, and service to the community.

The award was perpetuated with a significant work of art, in sterling silver, and displayed in the Lithgow Centre. A replica of a portion, also in silver, is presented to each year's winner on Speech Night. The award is limited in alternate years to either students of Scotch or Old Boys. The 1993 winner was schoolboy Same Hume, with Teruma Naito the winner in 1995. The inaugural award to an Old Boy went to Hugh Taylor in 1994 and in 1996 it went to Ian Stapleton.

Nominations are sought for a Year 12 boy or a member of the Class of '96, who has contributed significantly to the physical, moral, spiritual or actual welfare of their or another community; or who has provided significant service to the school; or who has committed an act of bravery in the service of others and have thereby, or in some other manner, demonstrated the 'true Scotch spirit'.
