Tim Holt has announced
his retirement.

Steve Collins won the Old Scotch Football Club’s McGregor trophy for Best and Fairest in season 2004. At the Club Presentation Night, which was attended by 250 people, Steve held off a fast-finishing Charlie Tallent to win by two votes.

Steve was delighted to accept the award and spoke glowingly of his involvement at Old Scotch. He works very hard to prepare himself and was justifiably rewarded for his outstanding commitment to the club over a long period. Cameron Joyce won the senior coach’s award and Will Lewis won the Ian McKinley Wilson Encouragement award. Simon Dumaresq was a runaway winner in the reserves best and fairest count. Sadly, Simon could not be with his mates on the night to accept the award as he was recovering from a knee reconstruction, but the award was proudly received by his parents, Geoff and Jenny. Hamish Dick won the Under 19 Best and Fairest Award from Lachie Armstrong. Ed Batrouney won the Coach’s Award while Andrew Sutherland won the Gus Taylor Most Promising Player award. Charles Logan won the 3rd XVIII Best and Fairest, David Comport won the 4th XVIII Best and Fairest and James Smedley won the Cardinals Best and Fairest award. Helen Cations was the worthy winner of the Bryan Gibbs Distinguished Service award, in recognition of her tireless efforts for the Club. The magnificent playing career of former Club Captain Tim Holt was also celebrated on the night. Tim has retired from playing and we look forward to Tim’s involvement in an off-the-field capacity next season.

The Old Scotch Football Club is gearing up for the 2005 season. The Club now has 180 players, having doubled in size from season 2003. While it was disappointing to miss out on A Grade finals action in 2004, the playing foundations at the Club have been developed and it is hoped that the fruits of this hard work are picked next year! Dale Tapping, Andrew Smith and Simon Tallent will again coach the senior team and Serge D’Angelo and Ray Beattie will look after the Reserves team. Bruce Armstrong will again coach the first Under 19 team. The Club welcomes Junior School staff member Ian Leith as Fitness Advisor and coach of the second Under 19 team. Andrew Millar will coach the 3rd XVIII and Sandy Robertson will again head up the Cardinals.

The Club encourages all supporters to purchase a membership. It now costs $180,000 to run the Club each year and, as a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on our sponsors and supporters to keep the show on the road.
