Another season is underway with three rowers (Will Lockwood, Jayson Speck and Michael Steele) and the coxswain (Benjamin Bailey) back from the victorious 2005 Head of the river crew, as our quest for three consecutive Head of the river wins begins. This has only been done once before by Scotch in 1925, 1926 and 1927. The 10as are again coached by Simon Morrison, the 10Bs by winning coach Bradley Wells, the 10cs again by Jeff Thompson, the 10Ds by Chris Carmody, and the 10es by Brendan Walker. this is a very experienced and dedicated list of coaches.

Rowing Pin

Rowing is now a very popular sport at Scotch with an increase of 30% in numbers, and now for the first time in many years the school has five senior eights and five Year 10 eights. this has created a real challenge for the logistics of the sport and for Mr Tom Bowen who organises the transport, the boat trailers and the entries to the regattas along with many other facets of the Scotch College Boat club. Jeff Watt takes charge of the first crew again for the third season, and Tom Woodbridge ex-MGS 2nd crew coach, who is now a master at Scotch takes over our second crew. Both coaches have teamed up to ensure that the 2006 season is a successful one

The third crew is again coached by winning coach Craig Salisbury, the Fourth a crew is coached by John Leeming from Mercantile Rowing Club, and the Fourth B fifth crew by Richard Elrington.

Rare 1st VIII Rowing pin

A rare find came to light when brothers Chris and Dave Taylor (Years 12 and 11 respectively) brought to school a rowing pin that their grandparents bought for a few dollars from a garage sale three years ago. This was no ordinary pin as it was dated 1928 for the 1st VIII Rowing at Scotch. It is a significant archival piece representing a part of Scotch sporting history.
