Old Scotch reached another milestone at the end of July, when Jeff Kennett officially opened Old Scotch Square.
The square figuratively looks in two directions. To the past it is a place of memories, reunion and reflection on those formative years at Scotch that each Old Boy has shared. To the future it signifies OSCA’s vision of valuable service to old boys and their families, and to the school and the community.
It is now our challenge to bring that vision of the future to life. I have had the opportunity this year to see the Scotch spirit at close quarters, at the many functions and sporting events that have brought the family together to share that special brand of camaraderie that we enjoy. Old Scotch runs a “mean” reunion!
We have also successfully met our $1 million commitment to the magnificent James Forbes Academy, through the generous support of thousands of Old Boys. In addition, through the assistance programs we have ensured that current students are able to participate fully in the Scotch experience. As well, many Old Boys have been helped along their career path by the tireless work of our career mentors.
But where to from here? What new programs will we create to extend our reach and meet our vision of valuable service? Many opportunities present themselves each year to assist current students and their families, to support innovative School programs, and to participate in the community more broadly.
The OSCA Council is eager to hear from you about the ways that you think we may reach our goal; and of course there is always room for a talented contributor to one of our programs or activities.
