Northern Territory and Tiwi Island TourAs part of its football development program Scotch College implemented a tour to the Northern Territory and Tiwi Islands in 1996 for a combined squad of Year 9 and 10 footballers. The tour was an outstanding success in both a football and cultural sense with our boys playing football at a level higher than they had experienced before. Students and staff also experienced the culture of the delightful people of Bathurst Island who overwhelmed the Scotch group with their enthusiasm and hospitality. As a result of the success of the 1996 tour the football department has made an on going commitment to the program and further tour have taken place in 1998 and 2000. Plans are now well underway for a fourth tour in March 2002. The Scotch boys will play against combined NT City and Country teams as well as the boys from the school on Bathurst Island. |
