Basketball - APS Regulations

B. SPECIFIC

Open Age games: 2007 - Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre

  1. Fixtures:
    1. Firsts. All teams will play each other once.
    2. For the Redrawn Rounds in 2007 the top 2nds team will play the teams ranked 7, 8 & 9 in the 1sts competition.
    3. To determine the order for (1) redraw and (2) Victorian representation, the position on the ladder be determined by:
      1. Wins if equal
      2. The Head to Head result and if equal
      3. By percentage
    4. For Victorian representation (McDonalds Cup) if there is a shared Premiership first consider:
      1. Head to Head result, if equal
      2. The points difference in the Head to Head result, if equal
      3. Percentage.
  2. Referees: Two referees will be appointed by the Referees Advisor. A third referee or score person will be appointed to operate the 24 second shot clock.
  3. FIRSTS
    The following playing rules will apply to all Firsts matches :
    1. Matches will comprise 2 x 20 minute halves (60 minute time slot allowed for each game).
    2. There will be a maximum of 2 time-outs per team per half.
    3. The clock will stop in the first half on charged time-outs, and in the second half, on these plus every whistle in the last three minutes.
    4. At least five minutes warm-up and two minutes half-time will be permitted per game.
    5. Where scores are level at the conclusion of the second half, an extra five minute period shall be played to resolve the tie. If still unresolved only one more five minute period can be played.
  4. SECONDS, THIRDS, FOURTHS & FIFTHS
    1. 2nds, 3rds, 4ths & 5ths Season will consist of one practice match and ten competition rounds.
    2. 50 minute time slot allowed for each game.
    3. Two time outs per team per half, clock DOES NOT STOP.
    4. Clock will stop in the last three minutes of the second half for major whistles (substitutions, shooting fouls, and time outs).
    5. If a seconds game is late starting, halves must be reduced to allow for a normal 9.20am commencement of the following Firsts match.
  5. * YEAR LEVEL GAMES
    1. A 50-minute time slot allowed for each game.
    2. For all Year Level teams there will be:
    3. Two time-outs per team per half. Only the first time-out for each half will stop the clock.
    4. The clock will stop in the last three minutes of the second half for major whistles (substitutions, shooting fouls and time-outs).
    5. A small ball will be used in the Year 7 age group.
    6. For all Junior games the home school should provide two referees:
    7. Year 9 & Year 10 Games: 1 x A & 1 x B or C Badged umpire
    8. Year 7 & Year 8 Games: 1 x B & 1 x C Badged umpire.
    9. MERCY RULE: for all games other than Firsts the Mercy Rule be applied. When a team has more than 20 points lead it is compelled to fall back playing defence within the 3 point lines. Violations of the rule:
      1. Warning;
      2. ii. Technical Foul - shots plus possession.
  6. Premiership: The Premiership will be decided on points - two points for a win and one point for a draw. Should any two or more teams be equal and have played each other, the team winning that contest shall take precedence otherwise the teams shall be declared equal.
  7. APS Representative Squad Selection
    The APS Representative Basketball team will consist of 10 players and will be coached by the Premiership team coach.
