When is the basketball season?

Basketball at Scotch is played for 12 weeks during the Associated Public Schools (APS) winter season. The winter season begins with an internal practice match on the first Saturday of Term 2, followed by 11 interschool games. The season ends on about the fourth Saturday of Term 3.

Training Schedules

Basketball training is conducted twice a week for each year level. It may be conducted before, during or after school, as determined by each team's coach. Practice will finish before 5.30pm.

In case of movements between teams or a change of venue or time, basketballers must check the Basketball or Year level notice board each Thursday.

Player Numbers

If players are in their first season of basketball at Scotch, they are allocated a number by their coach. This eliminates duplication of numbers and permits movement of players between grades in their year level throughout the season. The coach then provides the players with an order form to take a recognised school supplier when purchasing their basketball singlet and shorts. The recognised school supplier then affixes this number to the front and back of the singlet as part of the purchase price. No player is asked to change his number whilst using his current singlet, and his number usually remains the same for his basketball career at Scotch unless he requests a change.
