Old Scotch Basketball Old Scotch Collegians Association (OSCA) Basketball Club

The Old Scotch Collegians' Association (OSCA) was established in 1914 for the benefit of the Old Boys of Scotch, as well as to promote Scotch, and support the current student body through fundraising etc. Their website, OSCAnet is a new initiative to facilitate better communication and to provide information about the entire Scotch Community through the Old Boy network.

Plans are underway to launch the OSCA Basketball Club. If you'd like to be involved, please contact Tim Shearer, Executive Director of OSCA at Tim.Shearer@scotch.vic.edu.au.

Domestic & Representative basketball

Associations, clubs, stadiums and recreation organisations run domestic basketball competitions, usually for children that live near the stadium where the competition is run. Competitions start from as low as Under 8 and go through to Under 18 in juniors, with many domestic competitions offering a good range of grades (ability based divisions). Most basketballers start in Domestic and work they way into Representative basketball. Many domestic basketball organisers also offer senior competitions, with a wide range of grades, men's, women's and mixed available.

The Victorian Junior Championship Board (VJC) and the Victorian Metropolitan Junior Basketball League (VMJBL) run Representative basketball. Associations or clubs that are affiliated with Basketball Victoria form teams. "Rep" teams start at Under 11 and run through to Under 20. Players try-out with a Rep program to get selected into a team. These teams then go through a grading phase to decide what Level within the VJC and VMJBL they will play. There are a series of divisions, with the top being VJC (often called "Championship" or Vic Championship"), and then working through VMJBL (metro 1, 2 and 3), followed by lower conferences, Eastern and North West.

Rep basketball is played on Friday nights and is the major development and training ground for players in Victoria metropolitan and surrounding areas. Teams play a home and away series that includes traveling to away venues.
