Training & Competitions

The Diving Team is part of the Scotch College Swimming Team which competes for the "E.M. Davidson" Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the APS school with the highest point score during the APS Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre, Albert Park.

Throughout 1st Term the divers compete against other APS schools every Saturday morning using 1 and 3 meter springboards. Divers compete in one of four age groups being Under 15, Under 16, Under 17, or Open. To be selected in the Team divers are required to train twice per week in the mornings in the Glen Centre Diving Pool. Training usually includes board work, flexibility, and diving, progressing from a basic straight dive to ones that include pikes, twists, and somersaults. The final APS Diving Team has 2 divers in each age group who are selected based on skill level, attendance at training, and performance during the Saturday morning competitions.

All those who would like to dive are welcome to attend the pre season training camp. Traditionally the camp has been held at Swan Hill with new locations, such as Bendigo, recently being explored.
