All Scotch College crews competed in the 'A' finals with the Fifth VIII being Head of the River champions for 1997. Supported by the largest student spectator contingent Scotch College crews performed strongly.
Melbourne Grammar was just able to keep out a fast finishing Scotch First VIII in the closing seconds of this years main event. Scotch fought back from third position to row through pre-race favourites Brighton Grammar and challenge a faltering Melbourne Grammar. Pictures.
