Newsletter - June 2004

Hello Snowsports supporter!

Here is the first installment of a monthly newsletter containing various news about Scotch College Snowsports. With good quantities of snow finally falling it's time to get excited about the season ahead. Happy reading!

Website

This is well and truly up and running at http://www.scotch.vic.edu.au/Sport/snow/snow.htm. Please check regularly for updates, camp dates and further information.

Snowsports camps

All camps this year are full, which means we will be taking 66 Senior School boys up to the Alpine area over June and July. All we need now is some snow!

Interschools Trials

Senior school

We have had an excellent response to the trial dates: 13 snowboarders and 27 skiers will be trialling on Sunday 1st August, approximately the same as last year. The start time has been brought forward to 2.45pm for skiers and 3.30pm for snowboarders (TBC). Details about ticket collection and start order will be available at a later time.

Committee

Meetings have thus far been very productive and sub-committees have been extremely busy with fine details. The next meeting is on Thursday 17th June at 5.30pm in the Languages and Culture Centre at Scotch. I hope that you will be able to make it along.

Season Launch Cocktail Party

This first event of the season will be held from 7pm on Wednesday 23rd June. The cost is $30 which includes finger food and drinks. It is hoped that as many parents as possible with an interest in Scotch Snowsports will attend. Please contact Jane Stott (0419 175 768) or Kym Jenkins (0438 763 229) for venue and other details. I look forward to seeing you there.

Uniform

I am ordering a new set of vests, identical to the ones we had last year which were a great success. I would be grateful if anyone interested in purchasing one could complete the details below and return the form to me (e-mail is best, to my pigeon hole is okay) by Thursday 24th June. Patrice O'Brien (0417 317 286) and Felicity Brown (0412 282 979) are coordinating the distribution of vests, hopefully in late July from 66 Kooyongkoot Rd, Hawthorn. Please contact them if you have any further questions. Each vest will cost approx. $100, payable on collection.
