  Ensemble Participation and Cooperation Instrumental Ensemble Skills
A Advanced level of attentiveness in ensemble situations; keenly followed directions of instrumental teacher. High level of self-discipline whilst participating in the ensemble. Positive attitude contributed greatly to musical achievement. Advanced ensemble skills, including following the direction of the conductor well, reading the written music fluently. Played with consistently high quality. Well established playing basics such as posture.
B Well developed level of attentiveness in ensemble situations; followed directions of instrumental teacher well. Self-discipline contributed to musical achievement. Developing ensemble skills, as above. Played with consistent quality. Established level of basic playing fundamentals.
C Satisfactory level of attentiveness in ensemble situations; did not always follow directions of instrumental teacher. Satisfactory level of self-discipline; more achievement possible with a more positive and cooperative attitude. Satisfactory ensemble skills: generally comprehended and followed the direction of the conductor. Played with consistently satisfactory quality. Basic and developing music reading skills.
D Limited attentiveness in ensemble situations, with difficulty following directions of instrumental teacher. Low self-discipline whilst participating in the ensemble. More co-operative attitude needed for better progress. Limited ensemble skills: found following the musical direction of the conductor an ongoing challenge. Instrumental playing in need of improvement. Underdeveloped reading skills.
E Minimal attentiveness in ensemble situations; clear difficulty following directions of instrumental teacher. Little self-discipline whilst participating in the ensemble. Significantly more co-operative attitude needed for satisfactory progress. Unsatisfactory ensemble skills: did not adequately follow the direction of the conductor. Significant improvement needed in self discipline and organisation.
