Senior School Swap Shop

Introduction

The Senior School Swap Shop is where you can buy and sell your preloved School summer, winter and sports uniform. Items must be freshly laundered, or dry cleaned, and in good to excellent condition. The Swap Shop is located at 7a Morrison Street, Hawthorn (opposite the Language and Culture Centre).

The Swap Shop is open*:

• Every Wednesday of Term from 8.00 am until 11.30 am

• The first Saturday of each Term from 9.00 am until 12 noon

• At other times as advertised in theTorch Newsletter

A committee of parents run the Swap Shop as a service to the School community. Parent volunteers assist on a roster basis (approximately one two hour shift per month) to process the clothing for sale and staff the Swap Shop during opening hours.

Main Activities

Sales and purchases: The Swap Shop operates on account only basis (no cash sales) using your son’s student identification number. When you make a purchase from the Swap Shop you will need your son's student identification number. Purchases are then charged to your account; and any consigned items sold are credited to your School account. You will receive two-thirds of the sale price.

Blazer hire: Swap Shop has blazers for hire for special events. The cost is $15 payable by cash or cheque. Further details can be found in the Torch Newsletter

Use of Swap Shop Funds: The Swap Shop retains one-third commission on all sales, and distributes this to various projects around the school. In previous years, funds raised by the Swap Shop have assisted scholarship and exchange students, , the World Vision Kapumfi project in Zambia; and other aspects of school life at the discretion of the Swap Shop committee.

How to get involved

If you would like to help, please contact the President, (further details can be found in the Torch Newsletter ), or call in to the Swap Shop early in the year during opening hours to register your interest. Alternatively fill in the Expression of Interest Form and we will contact you.

A commitment of up to two hours twice a term, usually on a Wednesday, is all that is required. The Swap Shop is a great place to meet parents from across the School community and to pick up some great clothing bargains as well!

* Due to repairs and refurbishment of the Senior School Swap Shop, wewill be closed from Monday 27th June until Tuesday 2nd August 2011. Please also note that we are not be able to accept items for sale during that period.
