SCOTCH COUNCIL & SPA

The School Council places significant emphasis on communicating its work throughout the school community. Each year, two members of Council are asked by the Chairman to represent Council at SPA meetings and to report, at SPA meetings, on items of significance to the management of the school. For several years, the two designated Council representatives have been Susan Hughes and John Simpson.

Scotch College Council - How it Works

The School Council carries ultimate responsibility for the governance and financial affairs of Scotch College. Council is also concerned with the medium to long term planning requirements of the College and therefore has eye to the future needs of the staff, the boys and the parents. Council comprises 17 volunteers who accept the duties associated with being a Director of Scotch College - an incorporated entity. Councilors are appointed to one of three separate Groups: the Church Group (A), the OSCA Group (B) and the Independent or School Group (C). Groups A and B comprise 5 members each and Group C comprises 7 members.

Under the guidance of Council Chairman, Mr David Crawford, Council meets regularly throughout the year to attend to a considerable number of issues relevant to the proper governance and management of Scotch College. The work of Council is supported by a number of key Committees and these include - the Executive, Property, Investment, Finance and Superannuation committees, along with several 'special purpose' committees such as the Toll way Committee, created as required.
