The Class of 2009 has organised a very successful fundraiser to support the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

Student pockets have been emptied by Free Dress Day, a Sausage Sizzle, raffles and collection tins around the School. Well done to all the boys involved in the fundraising. In support of this appeal the Scotch Parents’ Association has also made a donation to the School’s Bushfire Appeal. Details of this appeal can be found on www.scotch.vic.edu.au/bushfire/bushfire.htm

Term 1 has indeed been busy so far, with parents attending information evenings, Year Level activities, Saturday sports fixtures and a range of Auxiliary functions to support their sons’ lives at Scotch.

Making a valuable contribution to the atmosphere of our School are the 42 boys who have this year started their days both as Scotch students and boarders on the Hill, adding to the energy of the 158 boys who reside in the three boarding houses.

The Boarders’ Parents’ Dinner, held the first weekend of Term, was a wonderful opportunity for many of the Boarders’ parents, who share their own special bond, to meet. Day student families can make a difference to the boarders’ experiences and enjoyment of Scotch College as they participate in all aspects of School life. If your son has a friend in the boarding house in a similar music, drama, debating or sporting activity consider offering him a lift to various activities.

With the summer sports season drawing to a conclusion, good luck to all boys competing in the major event of their season in swimming, diving and rowing in the last week of March and to the other summer sports teams as they complete their seasons.

As the Term progresses boys will have the opportunity to audition for a range of drama and music activities adding to the range of offerings for all students.

Families will have received the Scotch Red Diary of major dates for the 2009 School year. In addition, a monthly calendar of events that involve parents is now included in the Torch (see page 21). This will be a regular feature and will highlight all School and SPA events which involve parents.
