From time to time parents seek information and advice about managing parties.
In some families, teenage parties cause concern and controversy. There are considerable differences between familys regarding what is thought to be appropriate at different stages of a student's development. These differences, together with the different expectations of teenagers and parents, can create problems when managing parties.
It is important that parents get to know their children's friends, and where possible, their parents. Co-operation between families enables parents to feel comfortable when clarifying arrangements and helps to avoid misunderstandings about standards.
Careful planning is essential for a successful party. Some of these suggestions may seem extreme, but we have attempted to cover every eventuality in order to help you avoid some of the problems other parents have experienced. Be aware that the larger the party the greater the risk of problems.
The application of these guidelines will vary according to the circumstances in which the gatherings take place. Neither the Scotch Family Association nor the School accepts any responsibility for any injury, loss or damage suffered by any person arising out of, or as a result of the use of these guidelines or any error in or omission from them.
In particular the guidelines on alcohol, smoking and drugs are intended to minimise the likelihood of harm when they occur. Both the Scotch Family Association and the School absolutely oppose under age drinking, smoking and the use of illegal drugs.
