Mark's physio expertise helped Oceania during the games

Local Sports physiotherapist Mark Latimer (’74) provided physiotherapy services to the Oceania teams at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Mark assisted the team physiotherapists from countries in the Pacific region, including Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Nauru, Samoa, Norfolk Island, Tonga, Cook Islands, Tuvalu and Niue. In all, these countries sent over 450 athletes.

Mark has been the owner and senior clinician at Active Health Solutions in Arnold Street, Box Hill, for the past 13 years. He is an Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports Physiotherapist title-holder and has a special interest in sporting injuries.

Mark was the Victorian weightlifting team physiotherapist for more than eight years and the Australian weightlifting team physiotherapist for five years. He was a volunteer physiotherapist at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and an Australian headquarters team physiotherapist at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Leading up to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, Mark worked to set up the temporary physiotherapy/medical clinic which treated the Oceania athletes. During the Games he helped the Oceania team physiotherapists treat and support their athletes during training and competitions.
