The class of 2006 Valedictory Dinner at the Grand Hyatt on Monday 16 October was another outstanding success. Con the Fruiterer (aka Mark Mitchell) was our special guest speaker who gave the boys his top 9 tips for success in life: 1. have a dream; 2. make it a big dream; 3. believe in your dream; 4. never put off until tomorrow what you can put off until next week; 5. be positive; 6. never write the takings in the book; ‘You’ll never own blocks of flats if you do!’; 7. don’t believe everything you read in books; 8. staff relations – ‘make sure all staff are relations!’; 9. you’ve got to laugh; ‘life is too important to take seriously. If you enjoy your life everyone will enjoy your life too.’
Head of year 12 Keiron Jones thanked the boys for their outstanding contribution to the School and wished them all the best as they joined the 18,000 strong rank of Old Boys ‘who have gone before’. Principal Gordon Donaldson thanked the Year 12 parents for choosing Scotch to share the responsibility for preparing their sons for adulthood and for the outstanding contribution that they had made to their sons life both at home and at the School. Year 12 boys and their mothers then danced the night away to the magic of the Old Scotch Showband.
