During August a talented cast of 41 Year 7 and 8 students from Presbyterian Ladies’ College and Scotch performed Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Tim Kelly, a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale.
In this production we wanted to create a dark and somewhat sinister ‘Wonderland’ that challenged these young performers – asking them to create characters that were often strange and contradictory. Overwhelmingly, the cast rose to these challenges, and it was a delight to watch their performances develop throughout the process. They should feel proud of their work, and I thank them once again for their efforts.
Bringing this world to life demanded a high level of artistic support, and I would like to thank the staff involved for their time and creative input. The cast was well supported by an outstanding crew, many of whom were backstage for the first time. Our crew mentors, Ryan Melville (Year 9) and Mark Wiebenga (Year 11) shared their knowledge and experience with the young crew, and helped to create an excellent team environment during the production.
The performances were well received, and we hope the cast and crew have many fond memories of the process. I would also like to thank parents and friends of both the cast and crew for their support.
We look forward to seeing these students continue to develop their theatrical skills with us over the coming years.
