Out on the grounds

During Term 2 this year, two boys from the Tiwi islands, Alan Kerinallia and David Kantilla were selected as part of the ongoing cultural exchange program to attend Scotch College for a period of four weeks. During this time Alan and David spent each afternoon developing their horticultural skills with the ground staff team. Tree planting, garden bed preparation, operating ride-on mowers and tractors, brush cutting and preparing ovals for winter sport were some of the activities that the boys enthusiastically participated in. As the boys learned new skills from our team, we too learned an enormous amount from Alan and David about their Tiwi culture. It is a great experience for all involved.
