More and more boys are enjoying the challenge and enjoyment of Design and Technology as a school subject, and the results are both exciting and fulfilling.
This year the Year 10 Design and Technology students designed and made high-quality clocks, using the Bauhaus design school as inspiration. The Bauhaus was one of the most important design movements in the twentieth century, dating from Germany in the 1920s and early 1930s – the period of the Weimar Republic.
The boys studied three famous designers from the Bauhaus school, and then used the elementary principles they gleaned from their study to design their piece. A model was developed from soft disposable materials. Final materials were then selected and the real article developed and made.
