Bowlers are 2006 champs

In a thrilling finish, the Old Scotch bowlers held on to win the Public Schools Old Boys’ Bowls Tournament for the ninth time. We are now just one win behind Wesley, which has won the James Darling Trophy 10 times since its inception in 1974.

The final scores this year were Scotch (first with eight wins), followed by Melbourne Grammar (7.5), Caulfield Grammar (7), Carey (6), Xavier (6), St Kevin’s (6), Brighton Grammar (5.5) and Wesley (2).

Belated congratulations to the winner of the Oxley Jones Trophy for best team player last season, Rod Taylor, who received 42 points, with John Burrows runner-up on 38 points.

The club would love to hear from Old Boys wanting to join us for a game of bowls. Please contact either our Secretary, Ray Cox, (9809 1286), or our President, Manson Russel (9809 1054).
