The annual Cordner-Eggleston Cup was played in balmy weather on Friday 27 April to kick off the 2007 APS Football season. In a closely contested match where there was never more than a few goals between the teams Scotch came home with a wet sail to win by 20 points.
Scotch started brilliantly with a goal of the season effort from Junior Rioli and followed up with some excellent team football to race to an early lead. However MGS steadied in the second quarter and managed to hit the lead mid way through the third before some clever play from Scotch allowed them to break away and maintain a winning lead throughout the final quarter.
It was a fine first up effort from the Scotch boys with many players wearing the 1st XVIII jumper for the first time.
