Leah was appointed to the Mathematics Department in 2005 after having worked the previous year at Scotch during her teacher training. She has taught Years 8, 9, 11 and 12 mathematics classes. Last year Leah became 8A’s Form Teacher – a position she still holds. During summer she looked after the Year 10C tennis team, and winter saw her coach the Year 9B and Year 10C basketball teams. She has worked with the Year 10 Outdoor Activities, including Year 8 hiking and self-defence and was in charge of sailing during Term 3, 2006. Next term, Leah will commence the UK academic year in a mathematics teaching position at Haileybury College, a co-ed boarding school in Hertfordshire. She intends to stay in the UK for a minimum of two years.
Laura arrived at Scotch from Eton College, UK on a 12-month teaching exchange with David Brown. During her four terms here, Laura has taught mathematics to all year levels, and has been the Year 11/12 Gilray tutor in Mr Brown’s absence. In sport, she has worked with the Third VIII and the 8B hockey team. Laura has worked with the Year 9 Outdoor Expedition, and did the Glenelg camp that involved canoeing, biking and hiking, as well as doing service with the Sports First Aid group. Laura will return to the UK and enjoy a long summer break before rejoining Eton for the commencement of its new academic year.
