How were these men linked to Scotch?

The OSCA Yearbook for 1945 lists the Scotch Collegians (Old Boys and staff) whom OSCA knew to be serving in World War II. Among them are the following, whose connection to Scotch is not now known.

1. Gunner T. E. Adams

Who is presumably Gunner Thomas Edward Adams NX113589 b 29 May 1918 in Turramurra, NSW.

2. Private J. R. Barry

The only former pupil here who matches that is John Richard Barry, known as Jack (1927). However, the army has no record of any such man.

3. Sergeant K. J. Beatty [sic], NX5081

Who is clearly Private Keith James Beaty [sic] born in Albury on 19 December 1907.

4. A. L. Brown, VX12855, Infantry, Warrnambool

Who is clearly Private Alexander Lucas Brown of the 2/6 Battalion.

5. Flight-Sergeant or Pilot Officer O. H. Johnston

Who is presumably Flying Officer Owen Harbinson Johnston, 4236, of 6 Service Flying Training School, RAAF, discharged in 1943, b 9 May 1904 at Claremont, WA.

6. Flying Officer J. L. N. Macmillan

Who is presumably Flight Lieutenant James Lewis Neil Macmillan, 250738, of the RAAF, b 10 March 1921 in Heidelberg. He enlisted in Parafield, SA.

7. Sergeant T. McCall

Who may be Sergeant Thomas James McCall VX17600 b 24 April 1902 in Scotland.

8. B. McCallum

Who may have served in the Merchant navy.

9. Sergeant F. L. McCay

Who may be Frederick Lockwood McCay, b 16 February 1910 in Perth, WA, his occupation on enlistment being barrister, and who served in the army 1940-43 and then in the RAAF 1943-45, rising to Flight Lieutenant.

10. Private J. A. Moodie.

Canberra has no record of man of this name serving.
