I continue to find Old Boys who died in World War II but are not on the Memorial Hall’s Honour Roll.
George Henry BLOM (b. 29 June 1919 in Drummoyne, Sydney, NSW).
He enlisted in the RAAF in 1941 in Sydney. Pilot Officer Blom of 450 Squadron, RAF, died accidentally in Italy on 11 September 1944, aged 25. He is buried in the Ancona War Cemetery.
Alan Worsley MOSS (b. 3 July 1913 in Withnell or Hillside, Lancashire, England).
He enlisted in the RAAF in 1941, in Perth, Western Australia. Flying Officer Moss of 13 Squadron was killed by the Japanese in a flying battle over Ambon on 22 May 1942, during an enemy bombing raid. He is commemorated in the Ambon War Cemetery.
Eric Charles NODRUM (b. 7 March 1909 in Hawthorn).
Having studied Science at Melbourne University, he became a leather chemist. He enlisted in the RAAF in 1940. Sergeant Nodrum of 35 Squadron was killed by the Japanese in a flying battle over Endau, Malaya, on Australia Day 1942, aged 32. He is commemorated in the Singapore Memorial.
Joseph ROVKIN (b. perhaps April 1924 in Poland or 3 December 1922 in Shepparton).
He enlisted in the army in 1931 in Sydney. Private Rovkin of 3 Australian Infantry Battalion died of wounds, inflicted by the Japanese, on 7 November 1942, in Papua, when his age was stated to be 16. He was buried in the Kokoda War Cemetery and now lies in the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery.
Thomas STEPHENS (b. 24 April 1912 in Brunswick).
He enlisted in the Army in 1941 (serving in 65 Anti-Aircraft Company), and in the RAAF in 1942. Flying Officer of No 518 Meteorological Squadron RAF, died accidentally in Scotland on 16 August 1944, aged 32. He was buried on the island of Tiree, where the squadron was based.
