On Monday 21st April, the Scotch College Junior School had their U/11 4 x 50m freestyle relay team compete at the state titles. The team, which includes Alexander Goulsbra, Nicholas Proimos, James Ford and William Sincock, had gone through several lead-up carnivals to get to the State finals. These carnivals included 1st place at the APS carnival and 1st place at the Edebone Region swimming carnival.
The boys had been training twice a week in the lead up to this carnival, demonstrating excellent discipline and determination during these sessions. At the State swimming championships, the boys won a silver medal. Congratulations to the boys from all the Scotch community.
Nicholas Proimos also competed in the U/11 backstroke where he placed 7th in the final. A fantastic individual effort.
During term 1, the Grade 5 and 6 boys participated in their weekly interschool sport. Sports the boys had to choose from included: swimming, tennis, cricket, softball and table tennis. There were many fantastic team performances during the term and it was great to see the boys’ skill levels and understanding of their respective sports improve considerably during the course of the term.
There are currently a number of boys from the Junior School trying out for various APS teams. This selection process is the beginning of Victorian trials. The Junior School has sent boys off to trial in the following sports: softball, cricket, tennis, basketball, football, hockey and soccer.
To all boys who have been privileged enough to trial for these teams, congratulations and good luck. GS
