Words: BOB WELCH • HERITAGE CLUB PRESIDENT
Scotch’s heritage – it’s a rich, eventful historical journey, stretching back 157 years to the faraway days of the gold rush in Victoria, when the infant Scotch took its first hesitant steps.
The Old Scotch Heritage Club aims to support this cornucopia of cultural and archival heritage by collecting and managing historical memorabilia, documents and records associated with the school and its students.
We are always looking for new members who share our vision for the sustainable preservation of the school’s wonderful 157-year-old history.
If you’re retired, or have some spare time to help out in the archives and museum at 2 and 3 Morrison Street, Hawthorn, our Archivist, Dr Jim Mitchell (’62), would like to hear from you. As well as his archivist duties, Jim was the author of the School’s written history A Deepening Roar, and co-author with Stuart Gerstman of the school’s pictorial history, Visions of Boyhood.
You are welcome to visit Jim in the Archives office on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays, or contact him on 9810 4293.
If you’d like to join the Heritage Club, a one-off membership payment of $25 presents you with the opportunity to join some like-minded friends and colleagues who enjoy each others company, as well as doing some wonderful work!
