Words: ROD McNAB
Koomerang completed preparation for the 2008 ski season with a comprehensive renovation of the main kitchen in our Mt Buller lodge and refurbishment of the Mt Hotham lodge. This work was completed just days before the official start of the season.
The main Buller kitchen was last redeveloped more than 20 years ago. In recent years the kitchen was showing its age, and electrical appliances needed to be replaced. The cabinets, cooktops, tiles, floor covering, and a wall of glass bricks, were removed and replaced – the kitchen now looks fantastic. Koomerang thanks committee members David Morley and Campbell Olorenshaw, who went to Buller a number of times and not only managed the work done by contractors but also got their hands dirty, working some long days.
As reported in the May 2008 Great Scot, we have not been able to progress redevelopment of our Mt Hotham site, and this will probably be deferred for a few years. In the meantime, the committee decided to refurbish the existing lodge. Furniture, mattresses, the fridge, oven, and all the curtains have been replaced, and a picture of the living area shows how cosy this part of the lodge now looks.
