Completion of the acoustic wall along the widened Tollway next to Scotch is imminent. Some clear panels at the top of the wall are yet to be installed, after which the application of a protective finish to the wall should begin.
Still to come is the reinstatement of the levee bank, including replanting the trees removed during the Tollway construction phase.
The School Council is very conscious of the need to minimise the loss of amenity around the Melville Oval, and continues to negotiate an optimal outcome with Transurban. Design options to achieve this outcome are currently being explored.
The compensation claim for loss of land has been deferred, and is unlikely to commence until the completion of the project. Scotch hopes that the contractors will have completed all reinstatement to the School’s satisfaction and will have left the site by 31 December 2009. GS
