Class of 2009 Committee focuses on care

As reported in the April Great Scot, the Class of 2009 Committee took a leadership role in driving the School’s response to the Victorian bushfire tragedy. Their response was considered, inclusive, compassionate and immediate, and inspired the school community to do whatever it could to support those in need. Over $50,000 was raised by the school community and these funds have been distributed to a number of affected organisations, including the Middle Kinglake Primary School, the Alexandra Secondary College, the Marysville Kindergarten and the Yarck CFA. An exceptional situation demanded and received an exceptional response.

During Term 2 the committee redirected its efforts to raising funds for the Class of 2009’s gift to Scotch. The committee has designed a range of Class of 2009 clothing items, including a personalised rugby jumper, hoodie, T-shirt and singlet. The highlight of the term was the Class of 2009 Dinner Dance held at Leonda by the Yarra on Friday 26 June 2009. As the photographs above illustrate, a wonderful time was had by all. GS
