Ken Field Art Show

Established and emerging Australian artists’ works of fine art feature at the biennial Ken Field Art Show.

WORDS: MRS ASTRIDA COOPER – ACTING DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Works by leading Australian artists Ben Shearer (staff 1980–94), Bob Wade (’49), Anthony Day, Gordon Fitchett (’70) and many more will feature in the 2009 Ken Field Art Show, to be held in the Keith Humble Auditorium, James Forbes Academy on Family Day (Saturday 10 October 2009).

Current parents Kathy and Robert Littlewood’s Fine Art Circle will provide examples of fine etching, screen printing and lithographic works by various Australian artists.

Glassblower Philip Stokes (’87) will once again exhibit a wide selection of his beautifully detailed glass vases, display bowls and platters, as well as stand-alone glass sculpture, and newcomer Kristin McFarlane will also display glass sculpture.

The exhibition will include a small collection of fine art, which can be purchased with the knowledge that it will be an investment over time. These works are being sourced by Artpreciation duo Barry Pang and Anita Archer, and include works by renowned Australian artists such as Arthur Boyd, Charles Blackman and Rick Amor. Barry and Anita will be available at specific times throughout the weekend to discuss the virtues of fine art as an investment.

Proceeds from the Ken Field Art Show will be directed to the Scotch College Foundation’s Ken Field Fund, which supports the introduction of new and innovative programs to the existing visual and performing arts curriculum in both Senior and Junior School. The careful management of this fund provides between $15,000 and $30,000 each year in support of arts projects at Scotch.

The art show will open with a cocktail party on Friday 9 October 2009 at 6.30pm. The cost for the evening will be $20 per person. If you wish to attend, please contact Rebecca Mortimer on 9810 4304 or rebecca.mortimer@scotch.vic.edu.au. GS
