Scotch’s 2011/12 1st Volleyball team had a fantastic season, improving dramatically from previous seasons’ performances.
MAX WILLS (YEAR 12) – CAPTAIN OF VOLLEYBALL
The Scotch volleyball program has been steadily growing over the past few seasons, through the development of a number of committed and dedicated players by a strong coaching panel.
Above: (Left To Right) Mr Jason Craig (Assistant Coach), Sam Nothnagel (Year 10), Mr Matt Lanham (Coach), Andrew Peters (Year 11), Gareth Wymond (Year 12), Sam Palmer (Year 12), Nathan Leung (Year 11), Ed Spence (Year 12), Harry Skelton (Year 12), Ashby Smith (Year 12), Mitchell Pert (Year 12) And Max Wills (Year 12 – Captain).
We had a very strong start to our season, losing only one close game out of our first five. The new year saw us take to the court with renewed confidence and an attitude to winning which helped us secure a top four spot in the redraw.
After the redraw we were the only team to win all three matches and in turn became winners of the APS premiership. Success such as this could have only been achieved through the continued dedication of all members of the team.
Special congratulations to Ashby Smith and Ed Spence (both Year 12), who were selected in the APS Volleyball team.
I wish to thank our head coach Mr Matt Lanham, assistant coach Mr Jason Craig, Head of Coaching Mr Dan Higgins and Teacher-in-Charge Mr Mark Mason, whose continued belief in the program and the players resulted in the success we achieved.
