Old Scotch Footballers ready for 1999 season

When pre-season training commenced at the school on 1st February under the guidance of senior coach Wayne Harmes, it was encouraging to see 15 recent school leavers attending.

The coaching panel for 1999 is:

Seniors - Wayne Harmes, who will be in his fifth season as coach, having taken them into the grand final in '97 and '98.

Reserves - Mark Donovan, coach of Old Caulfield U19 in 1998 and a former North Melbourne U19 and Box Hill (VFA) player.

Under 19 - Terry Kendall, the successful '98 U19 premiership coach, will again be in charge of the younger players.

Third 18 - Ian Bowden, who will be in his second year as coach, the team having finished 3rd in 1998.

The OSCFC Executive for 1999 is as follows:

President - Geoff Speed.
Secretary - Ian McMurtrie.

New grounds

There are some major changes to our playing venues for this year. Due to ground improvements being undertaken at Camberwell Sports Ground during the winter months, we have had to find alternate playing venues for this year. Disruptive as this will be, the end result will be a first class playing field at Camberwell, from 2000 onwards.

The two senior teams will play their home matches at Glenferrie Oval, Linda Crescent Hawthorn and the U19's and 3rd eighteen will play at Macleay Park, off Belmore Road in Balwyn. Macleay Park will also be our home base and normal team training will be conducted at this ground. Both Glenferrie Oval and Macleay Park have good parking facilities for supporters and we will have kiosk facilities at both grounds.

We look forward to a very successful season for all Teams. Old Scotch is one of the strongest clubs in the competition this being our nineteeth consecutive year in 'A' Section. Please come along and support this great club in 1999.
